This went way beyond my expectations.
The buildings were interesting especially the Chapel and main house.
The working well was well presented with a demonstration of its workings from one of the donkeys.
It was great to be able to walk around the walls and the views were across the island.
I really didn't expect such a comprehensive exhibition in the museum on both the history of the castle and the social history of the island.
The cafe wad pretty good to.

I've been before, this time I came as part of a school trip. Due to high winds we could not walk the castle walls. However, this is still a fabulous place to visit a d swot up on local history. Great little garden and stunning views.

Definitely worth a visit.

Not a massive amount to see here, but still fascinating.

The fact the main walls are all still intact and you can walk all the way around it, then up to the keep, which was an original part of the castle, was so much fun.
The history and links to Beatrice were fascinating, and the history of Isabella.

The garden although small had some beautiful plants, so if you like gardens it's sure to impress, as it's one of the reasons we wanted to visit.

The well was unexpected and shocking on its current day usage still and importance to the whole island, used to measure the table, for if they need to announce a hosepipe ban.
They also do demonstrations on how it was used with the donkeys that still live at the castle.

You'll definitely be amazed alongside having a fun time.

Lovely morning, plenty of steps up, and down of course. Spectacular views across the Wight, ca even see the Spinnaker Tower.

Castle was really quiet during our visit, not overrun with tourists like some. Not a lot within the castle grounds, but nice wall walk, a keep you can go to the top of, and a nice small chapel.

Spent several hours exploring still didn't see everything. Definitely one the the history enthusiasts and Donkey enthusiasts. An English Heritage managed site so free entry for members.

Incredible visit to Carisbrooke Castle with my wife and 5 month old. Fascinating to read all the royalty that have been part of its history. Including Princess Beatrice, who are daughter is named after. I especially liked that the donkey carers didn't want to make the donkeys do something there were not prepared to. We were supposed to see the demonstration of the water wheel but Jack was not interested. We were more than happy, in fact, pleased to miss this as the donkey care was priority. Highly recommend a historic journey at Carisbrooke Castle

Was a great fun filled day. We visited for Easter. The team had organised activities for all ages. Pantomime, games, medieval music and activities for the kids. Great views and learning about history. Booking in advance would be helpful as they have offers around membership.
