Large partially restored castle with history back 1000 years. Birthplace of King Henry VII and well worth a visit. There are some indoor places but the visit would be best on a sunny day. Reasonable value at £35 for a family. As ever with historic sites you’ll get the most from it if you read the information around the site. I’d recommend a visit.

Great experience, good value for money. There was a good interactive map that explained the history of the castle. The staff were helpful. The museum was brilliant and had loads of history boards explaining who lived at the castle and how it came to be. It wasn't too busy so was easy to explore the grounds.

Great specimen of a medieval castle. Steeped in history from soon after the Norman conquest till after the English civil War. There is no car parking on site, but there are several public car parks nearby. There are toilets, a cafe and gift shop on site. On certain days they have activities on, but you need to check for them. There is a guided tour included in your entry price if you want to take it.

A perfect castle visit! We did the free tour which told us a full on history whilst exploring the ground level and then went on our own around the higher/lower bits. Lots open to explore, a great exhibition to look it which would have been really helpful if you hadn’t done the tour and a lovely open space in the middle. Great that dogs can go pretty much anywhere and that they have a cafe in the walls. Have a great history of the area too. Highly recommend.

Many thanks to Howard - our castle tour guide. We had one of the most fabulous, knowledgeable and engaging castle tours in a rainy day. The conservation of this Castle and its continuing exploration of the past is very much appreciated to enrich our knowledge of the past.

That is great castle with amazing views, great location, all the area is gorgeous. A lot of good bars and restaurants with outdoor space to enjoy with friends and family. Is great if just wont to go out for a walk around the castle and the lake. Is great for kids, dogs and honey bees.

The castle is amazing place to visit where children and adults can learn about the history of what happened to castle and how got to how we see today you learn about wars and select characters who help change the war outcomes and there is lovely cafe on site with toilet facilities and parking is not to far away but it is a bit of walk up a hill and there is plenty of staircase the middle is where the best view of the city is but i warn you now it does get narrow on this staircase but been for years. Busy at the weekends but easier on weekdays to get round recommend doing this when sun is shining.

Lovely castle with a lot of history. We visited on coronation day to watch on the big screen. We were able to take our pet dog which is a bonus when travelling as a lot of places are still not dog friendly.

There was a lot of entertainment for kids and adults in addition to the big screen viewing of the coronation.

We will definitely come again to take more of a look around.
