Had a nice tour of the castle which I wish was a bit more visual than informational but it was lovely and I learned a lot.

The castle is worth a visit and there's a lot of dress up and interaction So definitely a place for kids :).

The park is also a nice area for a walk and down time.

Lovely sunny day in April.
We parked in the car park at ten pin bowl Colchester and walked through the park and took some pictures along the way.
It’s a beautiful place to visit for a usual walk into the town.

Beautiful park, Great place for families, or anyone who likes getting outdoors but can't get to the countryside.

Lovely park. Lots of facilities and a very nice cafe with tasty treats and delicious icecreams.
Resident and friendly cat and a playground and water feature. Also Roman remains, lots of benches, friendly squirrels and attractive views.
Experience slightly spoiled by irresponsible dog owners and heedless cyclists (who aren't even supposed to be there). I would understand their annoyance at being denied the park if it wasn't for the fact there's plenty of picturesque easily accessible uncultivated land and riverside walks right next to the park which allow both bikes and dogs. I might sound fussy but I hate to see dog owners not cleaning up their dog's mess in places where children play, it's selfish and irresponsible and is one of the reasons places like parks feel they have to ban dogs. Sadly you still get many owners who ignore the prohibition, along with deliberately ignoring the mess that their dogs leave behind.
Also, letting your dog off leash next to water fowl and allowing them to pester the birds during nesting season is very irresponsible. It endangers both the birds and the dogs, but several owners indulged in this.

Beautiful walk through the park, amazing flower displays. We particularly enjoyed feeding the squirrels!

We visited for the Medieval Fayre again - we have been every year since 2014. We were not sure about coming again as the 2022 fayre was dire. However 2023 was amazing - lots of stalls to tempt us to spend our money and so many knights and others in costume. There were encampments set up so you could visit and they were so knowledgeable too

The site was well laid out and plenty of space to sit and watch a battle or have a glass of mead or just watch the Medieval world go by.

This review is strictly for the Christmas light walk which was outstanding! Even with the extreme weather conditions including snow, ice and lots of rain the organisers and staff had it nailed down.
Pretty, interesting, interactive and truly magical event, we all loved it. So much we went 4 times and took other family members each time to share the magic. There was even food, drinks and flashing lights merch. I really needed the hot mulled wine at the end of the chilly walk. Perfect!

Well done to all that made the event happen and all the effort put in and probably gave up valuable Christmas family time to make an incredible event for others to enjoy and share over the festive period.

All the top ratings and stars in the world! Thank you!????????

Beautiful stroll on a spring morning. Lots of fabulous bright flowers. Wheel friendly paths. Nice cafe and plenty to occupy the little ones and benches to rest on.
