I did the Box Hill hike, which is about 8 miles and the most challenging of all the routes (not ideal for kids). This was on my own and purely for exercise, and I covered it in just over 2 hours. However, you could easily spend 4 or 5 hours if walking a dog or taking in the scenery. There's also a couple of pubs on the route. I parked in the main car park at 8am and it was empty. When I got back to the car park at around 11am it was full up, so definitely worth getting there early.

The great outdoors in Surrey. Walking down from the café, to the bottom along the chalk hillside (steep in places), and up again via the stepping stones and steep terraced steps. It's so exhilarating. May be challenging for those who don't have reasonable fitness levels or balance.

Very busy weekend with bikers and hikers, however no issue to find a place to park, free for members of National Trust. Amazing views, great for walk the dogs, picnic and chill if you are not a hiker ????! Lots café around with food and ice cream x worth a visit ????????

Amazing views & a convenient location. I arrived quite early, around 9AM because it was forcast to be a warm sunny day & I expected it to get busy.
There was plenty of parking when I arrived, but by lunchtime people were struggling to find places left. I paid £4 for 4 hours, I think all day was £6 - not to bad, but be aware charges start at 06:00!

I started off on the stepping stone walk, quite steep in places, and I had to stop & rest on more than one occasion! Next I tried the Juniper top trails - redirecting this to remain at the top of the Surrey Hills & be a less intense stroll. Either I was wrong, or I told l took a wrong turn. ????

I'm sure the National Trust app and/or visitors guide office had more information on what to expect on each walk - but hey, it was great to push myself & the scenery and weather took my mind off of the "pain".

As the day moved on, it got very busy indeed & also much more noisy - children, motorbikes, helicopters, dogs & cyclists. Not a complaint, just an observation.

I did not eat or drink at the café, choice was limited, prices quite high and queues very long. Toilets were clean, but quite small for the number of visitors.

The play trail was excellent! Lots for the kids to jump on and climb. We finished our walk with an ice cream for the kids and a cuppa and a cream tea for me. Lots of parking and the staff were very helpful.

Box hill has great views for miles and miles, and you can do easy to hard walks for every ability.
There is a kids nature play area too.
You can find toilets, a cafe and some national trust volunteers to help you on your way.
The car parking is at the top and you do have to pay if not a member.
It was busy when we went but we were able to get a parking space easily enough and loads of park benches to eat a picnic or sit on the hill and enjoy the view.

Brilliant place for hiking with trails of varying lengths. The ones we tried were pretty steep and high in places so a good level of fitness is required to follow some trails.

Lovely beauty spot. Lots of walks including one for children where obstacle courses have been made and dens built. The stepping stones walk to the bottom of Boxhill is amazing. Be warned though - it's a lot easier on the way down as it is on the way up. Not for the faint hearted or unfit. There is a cafe and toilets which are reasonably clean. Also has a large green suitable for picnics. Parking is payable.
