Scarborough Castle has it's charms & history which I don't personally think were made the most of by National Heritage, On the flip side there are lots of open spaces for the kids to run around in and the best thing about castles are they are history you can touch! You can teach your kids and make it fun. Scarborough has some beautiful views too. A day at the castle is more fun & cheaper than a day at the arcades. So make a picnic let the kids explore & enjoy the views.

The castle is quite large on the hill where one can see the surroundings. The sea looks so stunning, and cold winds make you feel refreshing and relaxed. I saw different birds nesting in there, which are very rare to be seen. Summer time is best to visit this castle and a lot to learn about English heritage.

Beautiful setting on a beautiful day. Worth the walk up the hill for the views and the history. Kids loved the buildings (once explained) and ofcourse the ice cream. Very interesting history - worth walking down the other parts of the property and not just sticking around at the main castle.

I was on a day trip to Scarborough! Glorious weather, beach was very busy. It was good to see the children digging their way to Australia the size of the holes it wouldn't have taken long. Very busy place. Unfortunately there wasn't time to visit the castle.

Great place for visit. Reasonable entry, £12.50 for a interesting place to visit. Great views of Scarborough. Worth joining in one one of the free tours, approx 45min. Very friendly and informative guide and it made the castle visit worthwhile. Small coffee bar on site.

Having never visited the castle before, we climbed the hill unsure of what to expect. The cost seemed quite steep, but we were assured the views were worth it. They were. Unfortunately, there is very little in the way of information about the castle after the initial information displayed by the food/picnic area. There are a few plaques dotted about, but with limited information about the castle. Guided tours are available, which I'm sure would be useful, but it seems that you have to partake, rather than the tour being an addition to your visit. It seems a shame as this site could have been so much more, but doesn't give enough extra historical or geographical information at various points.

We were here for our anniversary in 2017. Love it here and still great. Weather not as kind this time but got some good shots.

Great place for a day out. Great views from the top and plenty of history you get to know if you take the guided tour. Free for Scarborough residents a few times a year.
